What has to be noted is that the Shawnee tribe spread to different parts because they were nomadic people. A majority of the Shawnee tribe assumed the European style of clothes because these were the people they stayed with. Originally, the Shawnee tribe lived in the Tennessee region, but they later spread to other parts of America. There were also other tribal areas for the Shawnee and these include, Kansas, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Texas.

Because the Shawnee mainly depended on the natural environment for their survival, they adapted to what was found in their surrounding environment so that they could survive. Movement from one place to another was something usual for the Shawnee tribe, and that made them establish contact with other tribes that shared the native Indian culture. The Shawnee tribe did not like war, and that is why they moved from areas that war-prone. Another cause for the displacement of the Shawnee to other parts can be attributed to the coming of the European settlers who colonized them. Because of chaos, the numbers of the Shawnee decreased significantly. Another cause for the reduction of the numbers of the Shawnee people were diseases like fever and flu. The structures in which the Shawnee people stayed in were not complicated in making, and they involved using ropes, animal hides or mats and strips of wood.

The structures were cone-shaped and they were known as wigwams. Ropes were used to fasten the woven mats or animal hides to the strips of wood. The tribe had one dominant language which they used to communicate with one another, and it was known as Anglonquian. The food that was consumed by the Shawnee depended on the natural surroundings. It is however good to note that most of the farming was done by the women of the tribe. Looking after the children and preparing meals were some of the other tasks that women performed.

When it came to the provision of game meat and fishing, that was a task that was primarily left for the men of the tribe to handle. The meals of the Shawnee tribe that lived in the plains were mainly buffaloes, wild turkey, bear, and the dear. The beaver, deer, raccoon and the squirrel, were the main animals that were hunted by those that were in the woodland areas. The Shawnee kept their hair long except when they were to be engaged in a battle. The Shawnee used different weapons when they were faced with an enemy.
